Kogi Guber: 5 Candidates Step Down, Pledge Support For APC Flag Bearer, Ododo

LOKOJA - Five governorship candidates in the November 11 governorship election in Kogi state have fused their structures into the All Progressive Congress, APC, Candidate, Ahmed Usman Ododo.

The five candidates and their parties are: Omaji Sunday of APP, Prince Yahaya, ADP; Boot Party Muhammed Kabir Umar. Others are Bala Abdulghafar Idris of NRM and Hon. Fatima Suleiman of ZLP.

The candidates under the aegis of United Progressive Political Parties in a Press briefing held in Lokoja on Saturday, disclosed that the need for continuity and sustainability of the Laudable programs of Governor Yahaya Bello was the reasons for their decision to step down for Ahmed Usman Ododo.

The spokesperson of the group, Bala Idris stated that the candidates have taken cognisant of Ahmed Ododo's pedigree as being the key driver of the incumbent administration and his commitment to continuation of the philosophy and transformation of the present administration.

He explained that the United Progressive Political Parties is made up of seasoned and tested politicians who have X rayed his competence, capacity and ability and being capable of delivering the dividend of Democracy to the people than the other candidates jostling for the position.

He added that the APC Flag-bearer has been tested on his humility, dexterity, steadfastness and focused on issues that concern , youths, women and the vulnerable.

According to him, "We saw in him the prospect of being able to face reality of governance where the poor and vulnerable will be given a chance to participate in the system where those less endowed can aspire for the highest office in the state."

Another salient point that informed our decision was the assurance that the he has promised to run an all inclusive government devoid of ethnicity, and religious sentiments," he clarified.

While appealing to the people of Kogi East and Western Districts to lend their support for the Candidate of APC, pointed out that the unity and progress of the state should over ride all other considerations in the forthcoming election.
