KATSINA - Katsina state government has been urged to keep to it's campaign promises by ensuring an open door policy administration which are presently lacking to better inform and propagate it's activities to the people, both within and outside the state.

Dr Mohammed Barau Tanimu, a concerned stakeholder in the state, made this observation during an interactive session with some journalists on his open letter to the state Governor in Katsina on Wednesday.

He said a state like Katsina cannot continue to rely on social media for government pronouncements of its policies and programmes, appealing for the use of the conventional print and electronic media space to disseminate genuine information in the state.

Similarly, the state former Accord party Governorship candidate said the state government has so far not displayed enough accountability, auditing and financial reporting system in its dealings for the general public to properly understand it's direction.

He also noted that, the state government has failed to demonstrate transparency in the procurement processes of public works and running of the administration in the state.

He further stated that, the government has taking to unilateral decisions on issues bordering on contracts and procurements, stressing that, due processes are no longer observed in the administration's activities.

In addition, he noted that, owing to the lopsided appointments and lack of scheduled duties to these appointees and many other discrepancies has resulted in redundancy within the civil servants in the state.

On Federal government existing and new projects in the state, Dr Tanimu berated the Gov Radda's administration, saying that, despite the contributions of the state to PBAT government, Katsina is yet to feel it's impact.

"No visible outcome on any effort made by the State Government with the Federal Government to secure appointment opportunities as being capitalized by other States, only individual are left on their own".

He therefore urged the Governor Radda's administration to make proper use of the conventional media to disseminate government programmes and policies to garner public trust and confidence in the administration.

"I did not wish at this time to discuss on matters regarding how the administration of the state is being run, but the Consequences of not talking may be more grievous as time is already going", he concluded.
